Term 1 — What a Start!

It was a sunny start to BPPS on Monday 2 February, with the school grounds buzzing as families returned and new faces joined our community. The main gate was a popular spot for first day photos and big memories in the making, especially for our Kindergarten families beginning their primary school journey.

Our Tea & Tissues morning was warmly attended, with our Principal on hand to welcome families, answer questions and say hello. Kindy parents and carers enjoyed a cuppa, sweet treats and yes… plenty of tissues!! as they paused to take in this special milestone and the adventure ahead.

The first Friday of March saw our postponed Welcome Back Picnic return to the calendar, a relaxed and joyful afternoon with families spreading out across the school grounds. Alongside the picnic, the Second Hand Uniform Stall and a pop up P&C Garage Sale gave the community a chance to browse, grab a bargain and have a chat. A few tubs of unused crockery and utensils from past P&C events were donated to Parramatta Mission to support people starting fresh, a small gesture with a big heart.

On 4 March, we celebrated P&C Day, a chance to recognise the incredible people who give their time and energy behind the scenes to support our school and students. It is the one official day dedicated to acknowledging this effort, and it means a lot. The Swimming Carnival also took place that day, bright, colourful and full of energy, with dedicated volunteers cheering on Years 3 to 6 as they swam their hearts out for their houses.

Throughout the term, the canteen kept things exciting with a rotating menu of specials, including Valentine’s Day treats, a St Patrick’s Day spread, hot dogs, pancakes and even a pop up breakfast club that gave mornings a little extra buzz. Our first 2026 Sporties Meat Raffle also kicked off, with plenty of lucky BPPS families taking home a win.

March wrapped up with the Cross Country at Boronia Park fields, with a sea of green, red, blue and yellow racing across the grounds. A fantastic effort from every student who laced up and gave it their all.

The end of term brought our much loved Easter Hat Parade, and this year the P&C Bunny made a very special and very secret appearance, dropping a treat on every desk from Kindergarten to Year 6 and making sure staff were not forgotten either. This was made possible thanks to the P&C and a rumoured ex BPPS student who took on the role of Minnie Bunny, keeping the crowd entertained and energised before the parade began.

After the parade, the afternoon wound down with a relaxed end of term sausage sizzle, while families cracked open their pre ordered eggs from our Cadbury Easter Egg Fundraiser, a sweet way to finish the term.

One of the most heartfelt moments of Term 1 was saying goodbye to Miss Sharon’s retirement, after an incredible 20 years as our Office Manager at Boronia. She has been a constant, welcoming presence, a familiar face who has seen generations of families and staff come and go, and who has quietly kept the heart of this school beating. Those who stayed back surprised her with a guard of balloon honour, a spontaneous and touching farewell from a community that wanted her to know just how much she is appreciated. We wish her a wonderful retirement, she has more than earned it.

What a term. Thank you to every family, volunteer and community member who made it so special. We cannot wait for Term 2!
